In 1983, the Methodist Council of Education established the Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) as a private educational institution. It offered secondary-level classes as well as Form Six and A-Level. When the student population grew, a new campus was established in Sentul in 1994 and the secondary level classes were moved to what is now known as the Wesley Methodist School, Sentul. As of 1999, the Methodist College Kuala Lumpur, Brickfields now concentrates on pre-university courses, diploma and certificate courses.
MCKL is located in Brickfields and is rapidly developing, with the plan to launch its new building extension and renovation. Aiming to be a college that provides excellence for life, the institution offers A-Level Programmes, Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT), Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) Programme and Certificate in English Studies.
