Manipal International University (MIU) is known as India’s first private university and is one of the best universities in India. Since it was first conceived in 1953 as a medical college by Dr. TMA Pai, a physician, educationist, banker and philanthropist, it has evolved and spread its wings globally to Malaysia, Nepal and Dubai. Its first venture into Malaysia was the opening of the Melaka Manipal Medical College.
In October 2010, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak and the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh signed a charter for Manipal International University to offer its programmes here in Malaysia.
MIU is a member of the Manipal Global Education Group and is a full-fledged Malaysian university offering multidisciplinary programs with a focus in the fields of Science, Engineering and Management & Business.

Manipal International University is a multidisciplinary institution, aiming to fulfill the needs of human capital development which was addressed the in 10th Malaysia Plan. Currently, the university focuses on offering foundation and degrees in the areas of engineering, business and life sciences. However, there are future plans to introduce Humanities, Design, Law, Hospitality, Education, and Media and Communication.
