So what is human resource management (HRM)? It is a department that must exist in all organizations which manages the relationship between employees and their employers.

Creating, implementing and/or overseeing policies that manage employees/employers behaviors, hiring policies, searching for candidates, interviewing and selecting candidates, managing payment of salaries, training and development of the staff, performance and evaluation of staff, and everything in between is monitored and evaluated by HR department.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • For diploma: Minimum of 3 credits in SPM/ O-level in any subject/ Equivalent qualifications
  • For degree: Foundation in relevant field (CGPA 2.0 and above)/ A-Level with 2 credits/ 2 Principal Passes at STPM/ Equivalent qualifications

Academic pathways are limited to Master studies in business, management, or/and related fields. Similar case for PhD.
Career Pathway:
You can start as a human resource and admin executive and as you build experience and gain professional qualifications, you will be able to move on to a senior executive then a manager, then a senior manager, and then a director.In many cases, if your record shows exceptional skills, you will be demanded for higher positions in shorter periods of time.

Salary scale is mainly based on years of experience and professional qualifications:

  • Entry Level (HR executive): Average RM 2,500
  • Senior Executive: Average RM3,400
  • Manager: Average RM6,000
  • Senior Manager: Average RM8,000
  • Human resources director: Over RM10,000
