Job Demand

Since roughly 93% of early childhood teachers and childcare providers in Malaysia are SPM holders, Early Child Care and Education (ECCE) training is being provided to prepare them meet the growing needs of young children.Moreover, pre-service training is given to new teachers to raise the quality and level of professionalism in ECCE.

Job opportunities for early childhood teachers will be aplenty. The Ministry of Education (MoE) is increasing pre-school enrolment from 67% in 2009 to 87% this year. This will gradually increase to 92% in 2015 and 97% by 2020. With plenty pre-schoolers, more pre-schools will need teachers with at least degree level qualifications.
