The Petroleum Engineering degree programme at UCSI University is designed to equip students with a solid foundation and knowledge of oil and gas exploration, production and development.
The programme encompasses a well-balanced curriculum that focuses on both upstream and downstream industries. It covers a wide range of subjects that include but are not limited to mathematics, basic sciences, computing, introductory engineering, geology and petrophysics, drilling engineering, reservoir engineering, production engineering, economic and project management, as well as humanities and social sciences. Special features of the programme include:
SPM / 'O' Levels (Science stream): Min. 5 credits, including; Math, and; 2 sciences (Physics,Chemistry, Biology)
STPM: Min. 2 Principals; Math, and Physics or Chemistry*
A' Levels (Science stream): Min. 2 Ds Math, and Physics or Chemistry*; Min. 5 Credits, including Math, and Physics or Chemistry*
UEC (Science stream): Min. 5 Credits, including Math, and Physics or Chemistry*; Min. 4 credits, including Math, and 2 Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
SAM / CPU (Science stream): SAM - Min. average of 65% in 5 subjects and a min of 65% in Math; CPU - Min. average of 60% in 6 subjects, and a min of 60% in Math; SAM - Average less than 65% and above 50%, with a min of 50% in Math; CPU - Average less than 60% and above 50%, with a min of 50% in Math; CPU - Average less than 60% and above 50%, with a min of 50% in Math
Local Matriculation (Science based): Min. CGPA 2.5 (including Math)
International Baccalaureate (Science based): Min. 26/42 from 6 subjects
Diploma / Advance Diploma / Degree / equivalent: Min. Pass English Requirements:
Minimum score of Band 5 in MUET; Band 5.5 in IELTS; or a score of 213 (Computer-based) / 550 (Written-based) / 79 - 80 (Internet-based) in TOEFL.
Students are exempted from the above English requirements if they possess any of the following examination grades in their English subjects: SPM (A+, A or A-); UEC (A1 or A2); a credit in O-Level (minimum C6); or 4 out of 7 in International Baccalaureate (IB); Qualification/Examination is of English curriculum
If English Language requirements are not fulfilled, additional English module(s) may be taken at UCSI, concurrently with the above undergraduate programme
