What is Industrial Electronics?

Industrial Electronics is a broad occupational field that includes aerospace or medical technology, electronic control systems and industrial instrumentation.

Whenever a plug point short circuits or a wire stops working at home, your mum inevitably wants to call the electrician. Are you the kind of person who hands her the phone, or are you the kind who stops her, and tells her that you’ll fix it yourself? Whenever a plug point short circuits or a wire stops working at home, your mum inevitably wants to call the electrician. Are you the kind of person who hands her the phone, or are you the kind who stops her, and tells her that you’ll fix it yourself? Do you know that the name AC/DC wasn’t invented by the Australian rock band, but actually two different forms of current in circuits? Are you an expert with circuits and boards you could fix with both eyes closed, where everyone else feels they’re a more complicated version of a tangled pair of earphones?  Read on then, as we shock you with the world of industrial electronics.

Industrial electronics is a large family indeed, but remember it is different than entertainment and consumer electronics. Instead of thinking DVD players and computers we are talking about things such as capacitors, motor drives, panel meters, limit switches and testers, and the list goes on and on.

How does your education pathway look like?

What skills do you need for a Industrial Electronics course?

Good with Computers

When everyone else is filled with rage and frustration, flinging their laptops into the wall when it stops responding, you keep calm. Why? Because you know there’s a lot more that you can do besides the typical Ctrl+Alt+Delete. You know a computer inside and out, software and hardware is like child’s play to you. To you, a computer is more than just games and Dota, it’s a relationship of sorts.

Good with Numbers

You’ve never needed a calculator in your life. Why? Because you’re one yourself, in human form. Numbers is almost like another language to you, and you’re fluent in it. It bothers you how something so simple could seem so complicated to many others. Numbers have a much deeper meaning to you than just another Ed Sheeran album title.

Good with your Hands

You love getting your hands dirty. To you, dirty hands mean a good job. While you did study, and read the theoretical parts of subjects, you were just so much better when it came to the practical portion. Chemicals may not have made much sense to you in books, but the moment you mixed two of them together in a beaker with your own 2 hands, it was like poetry in motion.
