Hello Yunnae,

We are very sorry to hear about your situation. Unfortunately, UPU for SPM level applications is only open to those who have taken SPM two years prior to the current year. As for direct intake to government universities, current SPM leavers are generally prioritised first as well.

However, no worries, there are other ways that you can take to complete your studies in Malaysia:
1. STPM

- If you really want to study at a government university, we highly suggest that you go for STPM as it is the cheapest option as well as because is it internationally recognised too. After you complete your STPM, you will be able to apply for the degree-level UPU, or even apply overseas for your degree. However, there is an age limit of 20 years and below for STPM in secondary schools, so if you are above the age limit, we would suggest that you take the private candidate route instead, where you will be self-studying with the help of tutors for the exams.

2. Diploma

- We do not recommend you to take this route for various reasons. First of all, a diploma takes 2.5-3 years to complete, and after credit transfers to your degree is done, your degree will then take another 2.5-3 years to complete as well. Therefore, it will cost you around a total of 6 years to complete your degree. Furthermore, you will have to pay your way through both the diploma and degree in comparison with having an almost-free education with STPM and only paying for your degree later on.

3. Private route

- If you do not want your ADP credits to go to waste, you can also choose to try transferring these credits to international university branches in Malaysia such as Monash University or Curtin University to complete your degree earlier. This is because ADP courses are not only transferable to US universities, but also UK and Australian universities as well. However, please keep in mind that different universities have different requirements for transferring credits, so please refer to the individual universities themselves.

We hope all this information helped in clearing your worries. Feel free to drops us any other questions that you have on this topic. We wish you all the best!

Hello Reenaa,

As Economics is related to Business, and Business is related to Accounting, the subjects of Math and Accounting are inevitable in a Business Degree. Therefore, you will have to learn Maths and Accounting in the Diploma in Finance.

Not many universities offer this course, but TAR UC is one of them that offers this course.
If you are interested, you can check out their syllabus and subjects they study at their official website here.

Hope this helps :)

Hello Nurul,

Different universities and organisations have different requirements on providing full scholarships to students. There is also the general requirement for you to maintain a certain CGPA in the programme that you are enrolled in (e.g. 3.75) in order to maintain that scholarship for the whole programme. Therefore, you will have to look for the specific requirements of each scholarship provided by the university or organisation.

Here is a link to external scholarships held by various organisations. You can browse through it to get the general trend of SPM results needed to obtain a full scholarship, while also looking for a scholarship that fits you best:
https://afterschool.my/scholarship

As for internal scholarships by universities, it is best to look through them one by one to determine which university provides the scholarship together with the course that you are interested in. Because at the end of the day, studying something you love is more important than a full scholarship. Even a partial scholarship can go a long way.

We hope this helps. We wish you all the best!

Hello Reenaa,

Deciding what to study is a very tough thing to do for every student, as it will define your future and what you will be doing from then on. You can ask for advice from other people, but in the end, everything will still fall back to you as you are the final decision maker. Therefore, before you make your decision in anything, here are some questions for you to reflect on as a guide to finding your answers. After you have done that, you can get back to us and with these answers we can help you find the right course and institution for you :)

1. Why are you not interested in STPM?
- Is it because of the stream or subjects you are taking?

- Is it because most of your friends are doing other courses?

- Is it because you feel that the standard of STPM is not on par with other pre-university courses?

2. Why are you interested in the Diploma in Finance?

- Are you really interested in a finance, or are you choosing this course for other reasons?

- What are the other reasons or motivations?

Hope these questions helped you find more clarification on your decision making :) We hope to hear from you soon!
