In a Twitter post on Friday (August 13), National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said that teenagers between the ages of 12 and 15 with underlying medical conditions will be prioritized first.

Khairy also stated that, “An announcement will be made next week by JKJAV (Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply) on how Covid-19 vaccinations for adolescents will be implemented as per the circular and the latest updated clinical guidelines.”

These announcements come after many parents and medical experts have expressed concern regarding students going back to school on September 1st amidst a surge of Covid-19 infections across the country. Many individuals have asked for all students to be vaccinated prior to returning to face-to-face learning.
