New teachers require degree to teach by 2020

Teachers are required to possess a first degree to teach by 2020
They are only required to complete post-SPM teachers' training course as a minimum requirement at present
The ministry plans to pick only top scoring university graduates with at least a CGPA of 3.0 to fill 20 per cent of trainee teachers by 2015
Scholarships will be offered to excellent trainee teachers
Specialist coaches will also be hired to assist teachers
Besides that, lecturers are required to have a Master's degree with 50 percent of them having doctorate degrees by 2020
The plan also highlights the proposal of lowering the schooling age
to
5 years
