  • Due to the improvements in the SPM 2011 results, the government increased the number of recipients of the National Scholarship Programme from 30 to 50 this year.
  • The recipients will be getting full scholarships for their pre-university studies, as well as their first degrees at some of the world’s most renowned universities such as the UK’s Oxford and Cambridge and Harvard and MIT in the US.
  • This year, the government allocated RM2.12 billion to the Public Service Department (PSD) to sponsor 12,000 excellent students to pursue their first degree, both locally and internationally.
  • Last year, PSD received an allocation of RM1.08 billion for overseas scholarships and RM360 million for local scholarships.
