Established in 2006, Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) is a private institution founded on Islamic principles and values. The following year, the university received accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education and in 2008, the university took in its first students for Islamic sciences, languages, finance and administrative science, and computer and information technology. MEDIU is managed by Rector Prof. Dr Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi.
