Kursus Perguruan Lepasan SPM (KPLSPM)

SPM school leavers who wish to teach in government schools are able to do so by applying for the KPLSPM programme. The programme is a preparation course for students to enroll into the Program Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perguruan (PISMP) for their bachelor’s degree. The programme is advertised in newspapers every year and applicants who are interested should keep a lookout for it. The duration of the preparation programme is 18 months.

PISMP – PROGRAM IJAZAH SARJANA MUDA PERGURUAN

PISMP is the continuation of the KPLSPM programme that will award the student a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching once they completed it. This is to train students to become primary school teachers. Students will study in one of the 27 Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia (IPGM). The duration of the studies in IPGM is at least 8 semesters, which is 4 years.

CRITERIA

To qualify as an applicant for this programme, there are a few requirements that must be met.

  • The applicant must be a Malaysian citizen.
  • The applicant’s age must not be more than 20 years old.
  • The applicant has to be healthy physically and mentally.
  • The applicant has to be active in co-curricular activities.

Applicant has to pass SPM with:

  • Excellent grades in three subjects
  • At least a credit in the three subjects; Bahasa Malaysia, History, another subject and a pass in English
  • Meets specific conditions and qualifications for the applied field.

APPLICATION

Application to the KPLSPM programme can be done through the Education Ministry of Malaysia’s web portal www.moe.gov.my. Application must be done through a purchasable PIN number bought from Bank Simpanan Nasional. Applicants are advised to obtain information regarding specialisations, minimum grades and calendar activities before applying. Only ONE application can be made per candidate. The same PIN number can be used to make changes to the application before the closing date. Any incomplete or false information given will cause the application unacceptable.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Candidates called for the interview are required to sit for the Inventori Sahsiah Keguruan (INSAK) examination during the interview.

The selection of candidates to enter the teaching profession depends on the academic merit score achievements, interview performance and the INSAK examination results.

The decision made by the Selection Committee is final.

The Ministry of Education Malaysia holds the right to offer non chosen programmes and place successful candidates into any Teacher’s Training Institute.

Candidates are advised to check their application status from time to time for the interview status and also the offer to Teacher’s Training Institute.

No letter will be given out for interviews. Candidates will have to bear their expenditures alone in attending the interview.

The official offer letter for successful candidates will be given at the institute selected by the Ministry of Education Malaysia after the candidate reports him/herself to the Teacher’s Training Institute.

TEACHER SALARY TABLE

The new salary for teachers beginning the 1st of January 2012 is below. DG29-DG38 are teachers with a diploma while DG41-DG54 are teachers with a degree.
