A make-up artist ensures that clients such as the bride and groom, models, performers and presenters have suitable make-up and hairstyles before they appear in front of cameras or an audience. A make-up artists can either work alone as assistants to a more senior colleague or as part of a make-up design team.

The job market for make-up artists remains stable. Make-up artists can find a variety of workplaces – hair salons, production houses such as theatres and television, and even the morgue.┬áThe beauty industry continues to expand globally thanks to product innovation, organic industry growth and the need to remain beautiful and youthful.

Education

There is no specific education qualification to become a makeup artist. A high school or a diploma would suffice and what truly counts in this industry is experience. Some make-up artists start as an apprentice/assistant and attend workshops to enhance their skills. Make-up artists working in salons are usually provided with product trainings.
