DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia (formerly ICAM)
Established on 2 April 2010, and rooted in the concept of "By the Industry, for the Industry", DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia (DRB-HICOM U) continues to set its own targets of strengthening and aiding the country’s automotive industry by producing highly skilled graduates that are equipped with a professional attitude and are proficient in academics, technology, engineering and business.
In line with DRB-HICOM U’s objective to become the premier educational institution in the fields of Engineering Technology & Business Development within the ASEAN region, they have cultivated holistic and integrated learning modules with the assistance of subject matter experts and industry professionals, both locally and internationally. The expansive programmes offered are aligned with the most current industry demands and its ever-evolving standards.
DRB-HICOM U graduates are equipped with an arsenal of hands-on, tangible skills in their respective fields, and ready to perform their duties at work. DHU offers Foundation programmes in Engineering (FIE) and in Business (FIB) along with 13 additional diploma programmes, they encompass various sub-specialties in the automotive community, such as Automotive Management System (DMS), Vehicle Assembly Management (DVA), Vehicle Inspection (DVI), Automotive Technology (DAT), Automotive Parts Management (DPM), Automotive Retail Management (DRM), Enterprise Resources Planning (DRP), Procurement Management (DPV) and Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) with accreditation by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
In addition, aimed at student’s looking to complete their undergraduate education, DRB-HICOM U also offers comprehensive undergraduate programmes, including Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology (Automotive Service Technology) with Honours and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology (Industrial Design) with Honours programmes, Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Business Information System, Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Operation Management, Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Marketing Management & even a Bachelor of Accounting!
Never one to rest on their laurels, multiple postgraduate programmes have also been inducted into their catalogue of offerings, with six courses under Business & Management faculty supplemented by two more from their Engineering & Technology faculty, all in an effort to continue to meet industry demand and the gruelling labour market.
The DRB-HICOM U campus is built on a sprawling 42-acre site in Pekan, Pahang to ensure that teaching and learning process can be more efficacious and implemented in a more promotive environment. The campus is equipped with facilities to keep pace with current needs, while practical training facilities are at one’s disposal, to empowering their students to seamlessly adapt the actual working environment in the automotive industry, which continues to rev ahead. Being sited next to the DRB-HICOM Automotive Complex, this presents an ingenious, strategic advantage to DRB-HICOM U’s learning process, which emphasises the key aspects of a university education and industrial training.
Completed in 2017, the campus can accommodate a staggering 7,000 students. It has always been a priority and an obligation for DRB-HICOM U to become a leading provider of higher education programmes in the automotive industry. DRB-HICOM U will continue to centre its efforts towards meeting the country’s aspirations to invigorate the automotive industry at the local level as well as on a global scale.
